A Potted Pig History

The band formed as Boyld Pig in July 2003. The name originates from Boyce, Liam, Dazz, Paul & Gav with an "i" thrown in for luck and to make pronunciation possible. Andy was rushed in to an already booked gig to take over from the original singer, Jim, back in the Jelyd Pig days! Andy did a pretty mediocre job but we couldn't be arsed to look for anyone else, and so Andy became our new singer. Ever since then he has annoyed us all no end.

Paul, the original Lead Guitarist left the band in July 2006 via email from Tibet, so we rushed in Mark as his replacement. He too is very mediocre but we were still too lazy to find anyone else and he has some nice guitars, trousers and hats. So Mark became the fully fledged Pig lead guitarist. We then had to decide whether to become Boyld Gimp!** This would introduce Mark, promote Gav and leave Paul in for old time's sake. However we thought this might attract an entirely new crowd for the wrong reasons and although we are very open minded we thought it best to stick with Boyld Pig. We are a Rock, Blues, Pop, Funk (in other words we don't know what we're doing) covers band with an extensive repertoire of over several songs. We play old cheese and some newer stuff but we draw the line at "Sweet child of Mine" so don't even ask for it.

In June 2009 the band took the monumental step of renaming the band to "The Pigs". This is largely because most people refer to the band as "The Pigs", because we are Pigs and because it avoids the general "Uh!... What?" we get when we say "Boyl'd Pig".

So we now proudly announce that the band will forever be known as "THE PIGS".

We enjoy what we do otherwise we wouldn't do it. We don't gig 3 times a week as we would get bored so we gig once, twice and occasionally three times per month, which leaves us sharp and up for it and you begging for more! Everyone is happy.

If you want to hear a good, tight, fun band then come to one of our gigs.

We feel sure that you will come again!

** our lawyers would like to point out that the name Boyl'd Gimp can be attributed to an original suggestion by an unfeasibly handsome geezer called Clive. In no way do the Pigs or their massive conglomerate of companies and holdings stand liable in any way shape or form for monies due as a result of using this name. Witnesses are available to testify that Clive whilst extremely drunk at a gig said something which sounded like "you can use the name whenever you want in any format under the Brussels legislative act of 2005 subsection 74 clause c. No worries mate!"
